Popis: This Bachelor of Science thesis is a result of a product development project during the course Degree project for the University engineering program in Innovation technology and design, MSGC12, at Karlstad University. The report is written by the student Emmy Hollsten Skogman during the spring semester 2021 and comprises 22.5 hp. Supervisor for the project is Christina Gabrielsson and examiner is Leo de Vin. The client for the project is Barilla Sverige AB, which in 1999 bought the crispbread producer Wasa and made them a part of the Barilla group. The project has been carried out at Wasa’s bakery in Filipstad. During the production in the factory it occurs that the packaging of crispbread is packaged incorrectly and therefore needs to be repackaged. The suboperation when the packages are opened is physically strenuous for the staff. The aim of the project is to define an adequate question and address the problem in a way that matches the project's demarcation and Barillas conditions. The feasibility study shows the scope of the problem and that the solution may be solved either in short or long term. The problem will in this project be solved in the short term to quickly facilitate the work of the staff and reduce injuries caused by overload. The project followed the phases of the product development process: project start, project planning, feasibility study, product specification, concept generation, choice of concept and construction. The project is presented in a report, a presentation, an opposition and an exhibition. The result meets the project's purpose, goals and requirements and is a solution to the problem formulation. The solution is simple, user-friendly and includes the varieties of a human being. The concept is a cutting tool with an ergonomically designed handle. With a pressure in the normal direction against the surface, two knife blades are pressed out due to a resilient mechanism. The mechanism keeps the blades protected inside the tool when it’s not in use and therefore minimizes the risk of injury. Above all, the solution contributes to a better health of the staff as injuries caused by overload are minimized.
