The Design and Implementation of Ku Band LNA, PA for the Ground Transceiver of Satellite Network

This research presented the low noise amplifier and power amplifier are applied to the low-orbit satellite networking system to provide a complete ground networking environment. It was designed using TSMC 0.18μm 1P6M CMOS process and supported by the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI) to complete chipout and measurement environment. Inductive Peaking technology is used in the design of power amplifier to increase the gain of high frequency and to increase gain flatness by resistor feedback. In the design of low noise amplifier, the first stage uses Inductive Degeneration architecture to achieve better noise figure and gain. The third stage uses NMOS Enhancement Load to achieve wide output reflection coefficient and reduce one inductor, to achieve the effect of saving wafer area. The circuits designed in this paper are all simulated on the Advanced Design System (ADS) software, and have been measured and verified separately.
