A Study on the Effectiveness of Applying Mathematics Digital Learning Platform to the Elementary Third Grade Students - Based on Junyi Digital Academic Platform

The study is mainly to explore the application of the "digital learning platform" to improve mathematics ability as to conclude the learning attitudes versus effectiveness on the elementary grade students, and finally summary the students point of views through this experiment. The quasi-experiment was applied to evaluate 49 third grade students who were separated into two groups, 25 for the experimental group and 24 for the control group, as well as questionnaires in this study. The experimental group adapted the “Junyi Digital Academic Platform" to assist the mathematics teaching; the control group just followed "traditional lecture" mathematics teaching for the nine-week period. Two groups were examined to varify that both are in the same mathematics basis statistically before the experiment. 5 mathematical unit assessments were implemented along with the progress, and a mathematical learning attitude was evaluated at the end of the experiment for both groups. An additional digital learning opinion questionnaire was filled up by the experimental group after the experiment. The raw data were statistically analyzed to work out two clear conclusions. A.) The experimental group significantly improved learning attitudes, compared to the control group. B.) The experimental group also took significant mathematics scores advantage than the control group. The researcher also proposed suggestions accordingly. A.) The other digital learning platforms with different features may meet different levels of students. B.) Next experiment may extend the content coverage including algebra and geometrics to reflect an overall statistical analysis. C.) Examinations and questionnaires could be implemented on the platform itself to match the spirits of digital learning, as an instant and interactive response. D.) The ministry of education could consistently promote alternative digital learning to the students who present difficulty in traditional lecture teaching. Though science and technology is the basis for the development of knowledge economy, mathematics is the queen of science. This study comes out a very positive circle, improved learning attitude increases the mathematics score, mathematics score increase boosts the learning attitude. I sincerely hope that students cultivate the ability of active, independent and diversified learning through advanced IT technology, possess the key capability to take away for life.
