This essay is based on John W. Berry’s theory on a framework for acculturation research to explore immigrant women’s cultural adaptation. First, the political and economical situation in the original society of the immigrants, as well as attitude and social support in the immigrated society all have influence on cultural adaptation. Second, this essay will also touch on variables in the individual dimension. Finally, discussion about psychological adaptation and intention in the process of cultural adaptation are included. The result is that cross culture marriage is influenced by political and economic situation of the immigrant’s original country. Furthermore, the motivation for immigration has been influenced by their education level, personality and religion. Their original culture is not oblivious compare to main culture; however, they are manifested when being with their own original culture group. Immigrant women have been in the place of the fifth large population in Taiwan. Structural problems in this society are difficult to deal with; however, within this limitation, immigrant women still strive to find their way of survival and adaptation. The mobility, firmness, and persistence are quite precious in themselves.
