| Popis: | 107 Born in the Jiang family from Tian Shui city, Jiang Wei had a deep background in Liang Zhou. These factors became an advantage when Zhuge Liang recruited Jiang Wei into the Shu Han. After joining Shu Han, Jiang Wei efficiently used his strong connections in Liang Zhou to attack Tsao Wei’s territory. However, upon Jiang Wei’s surrender, the court questioned his faithfulness often, which led to demotion at a border garrison. After Shu Han perished, Jiang Wei campaigned for it’s revival. Despite Jiang Wei’s efforts, his miserable life still ended with a ruthless death. In the current era, Jiang Wei is remembered as the disciple of Zhuge Liang. However, there are no official records of this relationship, and may have been shaped by later generations. This not being the only case of historical misunderstanding, the present research paper aims to discover a more accurate illustration of Jiang Wei, through historical records and literature. Additionally, this research paper also analyzes how Jiang Wei’s personal image is shaped more by folk tale, than by historical factors such as; general of Liang Zhou, successor of Zhuge Liang, the northern expedition, fake surrender and bloc competition. |
