The study aims to explore the life stress, social support and well-being of drug inmates. In case of different backgrounds on life stress, social support and well-being, the study investigates the relationship between life stress, social support and well-being of drug inmates. The study uses the questionnaire survey procedure and the study samples are from adult drug inmates in Taichung Drug Abuser Treatment Center. 100 questionnaires are sent out and 68 effective questionnaires are collected. The major findings derived from the analytical results of the study are described below. 1. The life stress of drug inmates is regarded as a “moderate to low” at a certain degree. The social support and well-being are regarded as “moderate to high” at a certain degree. 2. In the part of life stress, the widowed drug inmates have more emotional stress than the married ones. The drug inmates who first drugged at middle age have more economic stress than the young ones. The prisoners have much more emotional, family, economic, work, personal or social stress than the inmates. 3. The emotional stress of drug inmates is positively correlated with the social support of their spouses or partners (outside the Treatment Center). 4. The work, personal or social stress of drug inmates is negatively correlated with the support of their siblings or parents (inside the Treatment Center). 5. The family, economic, and work stress of drug inmates is negatively correlated with emotional well-being. 6. The work stress of drug inmates is negatively correlated with social well-being. 7. The support of siblings or parents (inside the Treatment Center) of drug inmates is moderately positively correlated with emotional, psychological, and social well-being. 8. The social support of drug inmates in friends (inside the Treatment Center) is low positively correlated with emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
