Because of the trend of fewer children and aging population in Taiwan are becoming more and more serious. According to statistics, the aging index in February 2017 broken hundred for the first time (Ministry of the Interior, 2017). In 2018, Taiwan entered the aged society. Aging and lower birth rate population structure derivative care issues and school enrollment crisis. In the 106th academic year, Taipei City had 123 waiting for activation (Taipei City Education Bureau, 2018).In recent years, many topics that combine campus and senior care have enabled young and old to take care of, grow and learn on campus. This study explores the possibility of intergenerational communication and the need for space after re-use. It is hoped that the power of companionship and care will be provided by the campus and the community to enable the elderly to feel at ease. In this study, the questionnaire method was used to collect 211 valid questionnaires from the people over 55 years old. Invited 13 people participate in the design workshop, and making a model to show their idea for how to reuse the idle classrooms. To understand their understanding and attitude of the imagination of the space, the conclusions are as follows: 1. Up to 80% of the respondents (84.4%) agreed to use the unused space of the National Primary School as a community care base, and the willingness and cognition of each type of intergenerational communication are at a medium to high level, ranking in order: experience education ( M=4.06), public service (M=3.97), health promotion (M=3.94), daily communication (M=3.93), leisure and entertainment (M=3.93), showing that the public is optimistic and willing to interact with children. 2. Respondents considered that the importance of intergenerational communication space indicators was: security (M=4.15), proximity (M=4.05), privacy (M=3.97), and flexibility (M=3.93), familiarity (M=3.92), and consider the need for intergenerational communication space. The top five include: outdoor recreation space (5.7%), dining space (5.6%), playground (5.4%), singing room (5.4%), community group office (5.0%). 3. In the willingness and cognition of quasi-aged and elderly people, the difference between the experience education (P=0.039*), leisure and entertainment (P=0.007**), and daily communication (P=0.049*) is shown. Quasi-aged people are more likely to accept social and lively intergenerational communication types. The research results provide future directions for campus reuse, senior care and intergenerational communication’s planning and design. It is suggested that the diversity of foreign campus reuse cases can be introduced, including integration of local culture, art performances, urban farms, etc. On campus, we will achieve the goals of intergenerational learning, sharing, and living together, and create an environment of excellent peace and aging.
