Relationships Between Soccer Players' Life Stress and Burnout : The Moderating Effect of Athletic Mental Energy

Popis: | 107 The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among soccer players life stress, athletic mental energy, and burnout, and examine the moderating effect of athletic mental energy on the life stress-burnout relationship. This study sampled 194 college soccer players(males=171; females=23) and completed demographic questionnaire, athletic mental energy scale (AMES), athletic burnout questionnaire (ABQ). Results found soccer players athletic mental energy negatively correlated with life stress and burnout, and life stress positively correlated with burnout. Further, it was found athletic mental energy moderated soccer players life stress-burnout relationship. This study suggested that athletic mental energy is a new concept in sport psychology, and coaches, administrators, and sport psychological consultant may apply this concept to reduce athletes life stress and burnout. Also, it is suggested by providing appropriate training and rest, building successful experiences, increasing sport confidence may enhance athletes athletic mental energy. |
