A Correlational Study of New Taipei City Elementary School English Teachers' Perception and Teaching Beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between New Taipei City elementary school English teachers’ perception and teaching beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning. This study adopted a questionnaire of New Taipei City elementary school English teachers’ perception and teaching beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning. The subject was 297 elementary school English teachers in New Taipei City. The analysis method employed were descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results of the research are as follows: 1. The perception and teaching beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning of New Taipei City elementary school English teachers are both high. 2. There were significant differences among teachers’ degree, major, position and school size in New Taipei City elementary school English teachers’ perception in Content and Language Integrated Learning. 3. There were significant differences among teachers’ major in New Taipei City elementary school English teachers’ teaching beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning. 4. There was a significant and positive correlation between New Taipei City elementary school English teachers’ perception and teaching beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning. 5. New Taipei City elementary school English teachers’ teaching beliefs in Content and Language Integrated Learning could be predicted by their perception. According to the research findings, several suggestions are provided as references for elementary school English teachers, the authority concerned and further researchers.
