The study used “pregnancy” as the starting point of the author’s creations as she hoped to express the feelings of being touched when seeing mothers sacrifice and dedicate themselves to new lives through “pregnancy.” The works were created with sculptured waste wood and cloth clay, and waste wood has thus been granted a new value by her art creation. Cloth clay is a plastic substance, and it is easy to be remodeled after it dries. The texture of cloth clay is like plaster. The combination of the two different media shows aesthetic conflict in her works. The author created a variety of postures of “pregnancy” and completed twelve sculptures which have been divided into three series: “Nurture by Nature,” “Bearing” and “Pregnancy.” The series of “Nurture by Nature” expresses that Nature nurtures all living creatures, and it praises the greatness of Nature. The series of “Bearing” shows how a mother looks forward to and longs for the arrival of a new life in the process of being pregnant with a baby. The series of “Pregnancy” presents the postures of pregnant women.
