The Class Management Strategy and Current Situation in After-school Program: A Case Study of Taichung Metropolitan Area

This research mainly discusses the operational strategy and current status of the public and private After-school program in Taichung Metropolitan area. The research utilized individual cases from November 2018 to January 2019, including 8 teachers from public school and 6 from private after-school program. All data were analyzed by grounded theory. The research discovered that: 1. Each family based on their demand customizes the positioning of the After-School program; 2. Regardless of Public or Private After-School program, the mission of operating a class is to maintain a positive atmosphere, yet the ultimate goal is to enhance students learning abilities, which matched the connotation of this research on classes operation; 3. Regardless of public or private After-School programs, both programs were having difficulties in communicating with parents, which created multiple barriers for After-School program teachers; 4. Both public and private After-School program provided a multi-learning environment, which offered the students in lower economic disadvantaged the opportunity to learn, and make up the in dual-income family parenting function. This research recommends parents should cooperate with schools, to claim the responsibilities alongside with teachers instead of putting all the responsibilities on School or after-school program
