Popis: | 107 Taiwanese spirits I dream of from CHEN YING HSIU English summary The ghosts and rumors give the space of moral education and artistic imagination, and the historical significance behind it is worthy of scrutiny. The value of its manifestation is worth reflecting and promotes research motivation.Painting on silk, portrait brick and statue stone are typical presentations for people seeking the blessing of God in the Han Dynasty. The fantasies about heaven exist in both Chinese culture and the western worlds. This study aims to discuss the fairy tales about the ghosts from both cultures and explore their images in the paintings. We observe and refine the features from them to create new symbols and strive to break the impressions of thinking the stories as mere nonsenses spread in some primitive societies. The true spirits of the stories lay on the connections between peoples, the connections between people and their homelands. They are our belief in nature and our fear and respect for ghosts and gods. We look over representative pieces of literature. These include the T-shape paintings in Mawangdui during western Han dynasty, the “Classic of Mountains and Seas” and the “Zhongshan Travel Map” by Gong Kai, the “ghost map” by Luo from the Chinese side. We also include the “Pinturas Negras” from Francisco Goya and “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch, etc. We analyze how to derive the representative visual symbols from these ingredients. The patterns on bronze relate to the political status in those eras. The horror story, nightmares give us the inspiration to fulfill our unfinished dreams through art. We take these stories respectfully but expect to create our work of Surreal in a way like playing a game to entertain our audiences. Results: I. The ghosts or demons are not completely ridiculous. The taboos and bans have their functionality. They remind us to cautiously face the death and commemorate our ancients and the origin. II. The religion is the centuries of accumulation about cultures of a nation. The fork cultures reveal the contemporary lives. II. Many taboos can be traced from totems of the clans. The admiration for totem becomes key drives to sustain the system. Fears make people become mentally confined which help to control and integrate the society safely but also kill the spirit to pursue freedom. IV. We take these stories as our guides and models. Through simply choosing, decorating or reorganizing the whole stories, we construct our world with the ghosts by modern materials, forms, and techniques. This work does not prepare to be viewed from a scientific perspective. This is the choice made by the artist who wants to create an opportunity for the audiences to make their imagination go wild. This kind of work has the chance to drive varied interpretations which are distinguishable from modern life of rationality. This is the view of mine Taiwanese ghosts which become the features of my work with personal style, I hope that the future can be devoted to the creation of the atmosphere of the work.
