On the Correlations of the Organizational Commitment and Intention to Stay for Teachers Serving Concurrently as Administrators in Elementary Schools in Taichung City

This study investigated the organizational commitment and Intention to Stay for teachers serving concurrently as administrators in elementary schools in Taichung City.It compared the differences among teachers of different backgrounds and analyzed the correlations between organizational commitment and intention of stay as well as the predictability of the former factor on the latter. This study adopts survey as its research method. An integrated survey entitled “Investigating Organizational Commitment and Intention to Stay for Teachers Serving Concurrently as Administrators” was compiled by the researcher for data collection.The survey targeted teachers serving concurrently as administrators of school affairs in Taichung City’s elementary schools in 2018 academic year. The sample size was 260 teachers who were administrators selected from 53 schools. The effective sample size was 251 teachers and was analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings were as follows: 1. Organizational commitment was at higher-than-intermediate level for teachers serving concurrently as administrators. 2. Intention to stay was at intermediate level for teachers serving concurrently as administrators. 3. Organizational commitment differed with their age, educational level, years of service, positions, and years of being administrators for teachers serving concurrently as administrators. 4. Teacher’s intention to stay differed with their gender, age, educational level, positions, years of being administrators for teachers serving concurrently as administrators. 5. Organizational commitment was positively correlated with intention to stay for teachersserving concurrently as administrators. 6. Organizational commitment could predict intention to stay for teachers servingconcurrently as administrators, Willingness.
