The purpose of this study mainly examined the correlation between the military officers’ work stress and the retention intention in Armed Forces Reserve Command, and the effects of work meaning moderate the relationship between work stress and the retention intention. 389 participants were to complete the questionnaire of demographic variables, Work Stress Scale, Work Meaning Scale, and Retention Intention Scale. The results show: 1.Work stress do not have significant correlations with the retention intention, while the work meanings have the positive correlations with the retention intention. 2. As for the moderating effects, work meanings obviously moderate the relationship between work stress and the retention intention. The results show that the participants with high work meaning, the higher work stress, the higher retention intention, while that the participants with low work meanings, the higher stress comes from family and economy, the higher retention intention. 3.In addition, there are significant differences among levels of demographics on work stress, work meanings, and retention intention. Above all, the higher work meanings, the higher retention intention, and the work meanings partly moderated the relationship between work stress and the retention intention.
