Popis: | 107 To solve the problems of environmental quality deterioration and traffic congestion in urban areas, many public transportation promoting strategies are implemented to increase public transportation patronage. Monthly Pass for unlimited use of public transportation is surely one of these strategies to encourage people to use public transport. However, it is rather costly to implement such a strategy. The effectiveness of this strategy has not yet been carefully investigated. Based on this, focusing on the travelers in Taipei Metropolitan, this study aims to investigate the key factors contributing to the purchase intention of the Monthly Pass by using discrete choice models based on a questionnaire survey. Firstly, a purchase behavior binary logit model of Monthly Pass is developed and estimated. The estimation results show that Number of weekly trips, Income, Living in Taipei and New Taipei, Weekly travel expense, Commuting time, and Commuting by public transportation are identified as the key factors affecting the purchase intention of public transportation monthly passes. Additionally, a willingness to purchase Monthly Pass model depending on the price of the pass is also developed and estimated. The estimation results show that Age, Occupation (Military), Education (master), Number of motor vehicles owned, Commuting distance, Price of the pass, Distance of home to public transportation station, Free parking at work, Telecommuting are identified as key factors influencing the willingness to purchase the monthly pass. Besides, the estimated model can be used to predict the percentage of pass purchased at various prices for various types of travelers, suggesting the model is useful for policy analysis. |
