In recent years, the greenhouse effect has been becoming increasingly serious, such that the importance of renewable energy more concerned. This study explores the research on the efficiency of renewable energy in 18 counties and cities of Taiwan's from 2013 to 2017. Using the Dynamic Slacks-Based Measure (DSBM) of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and use disaggregated efficiency method. There are four inputs: Sunshine hours, total rainfall, wind speed, and land area. Three outputs include solar power, wind power, and hydropower as well as other renewable energy generations. The carry-over variable is the installed capacity of renewable energy. The results of the study show: The renewable energy generation efficiency scores in some Taiwan’s counties and cities are extremely low and need to be improved. The solar power generation efficiency of all counties and cities in Taiwan is generally high. The wind power generation efficiency is generally high except for Hsinchu City. The water power generation efficiency is generally high except for Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Taitung. Regions in Taiwan are then divided into urban and non-urban areas. The Mann-Whitney test shows that there was no significant difference between urban and rural areas in the overall renewable energy efficiency of Taiwanese during the study period.
