Railway transportation has become a vital part of Taiwan’s transportation. There was several railway accident cause by rail buckling. The most effective way of preventing railway buckling is to improve lateral resistance of ballast railway. This study focus on how to improve lateral resistance effectively. The study chosed 113 measuring points, using single tie push test to measure lateral resistance. We also collected 50 kg ballast for each measuring point simultaneously for material test. After collecting these parameters above, using regression analysis to find parameters that really affect lateral resistance. The result of the study shows that parameters that really affect lateral resistance from high related to low related are: cobblestone rate, 1.5 inch sieve analysis, shoulder stack height, 0.5 inch sieve analysis. The study also establish a lateral resistance estimation sentence from the result of regression analysis.
