This study employed the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (NMQ) and Rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) to explore the work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) of dentists in the northern Taiwan. A total of 60 questionnaires were distributed and 57 of which were valid, with an effective rate of 95%. Results showed that the prevalence of discomfort in any body part within one-year of the dentists was 74.5%, and the discomfort in shoulders was the highest (66.6%), followed by the neck (59.6%), the lower back/waist (54.4%), the upper back (45.6%), and the wrists (30.4%). Among them, the discomforts in shoulders and low back/waist were influenced by the job tenure (>10 years) and the average time to treat an outpatient (>20 min), whereas the discomforts in shoulders and neck were also influence by the number of clinics per day (>2) and the sleeping time
