This article mainly uses "historical context" and "the text" as research methods to discuss the connotation and roots of D.T. Suzuki's thoughts on Zen and the art of tea. The purpose of the writing is to try to find a possible research path for the Chinese tea ceremony by tracing the idea of D.T. Suzuki. Nowadays, there are three basic orientations for the study of Zen as the art of tea. They are “Tea Zen”, “Zen Tea” and “Zen is Tea”. "Tea Zen" refers to the research method based on tea culture and tea ceremony etiquette, combined with the idea of Zen, that is, from the perspective of tea people, the interpretation of tea ceremony thoughts combined with Zen. "Zen Tea" refers to the study of tea culture and tea ceremony etiquette by the idea of Zen. This orientation can also be said to be a theoretical analysis of the tea ceremony from the perspective of the Zen. "Zen is Tea" is a way of studying the tea ceremony that is compatible with the perspective of tea people and Zen. D.T. Suzuki is the first person to successfully interpret and understand the tea ceremony from the perspective of Zen thought and Zen in the modern. His theory of Zen tea thoughts does not always follow the "Zen" perspective to interpret the tea ceremony. He wrote the article "Tea and Zen" in 1938. He tried to interpret "Zen is Tea" from the perspective of "tea people" and "zen", but in the end, because he was awkward from the limitations of her own education has not succeeded in writing the theory of tea ceremony thoughts that has both "tea people" and "zen" thinking. In order to understand the turning point of D.T. Suzuki's thoughts on Zen and the art of tea and the content of his theory of Zen and the art of tea, this thesis studies the theory of Zen tea thought based on the life of D.T. Suzuki and the 12 tea special works he has written. The author discuss the origins of the Zen tea thoughts with the four elements of "Malaysia Buddhism", "Chinese Zen Method", "Western Thought" and "Japanese Culture", so as to analyze the characteristics of D.T. Suzuki's thoughts on Zen tea and its Zen tea thought. Finally, let's talk about the value and influence of D.T. Suzuki's Zen tea thought.
