The booming tourism industry is a great influence on global economic growth. Particularly, the purchasing power of women dramatically increases and the number of solo female travelers and women travelling with companions rises year-by-year. Taiwan’s tourism revenue was on the rise yearly though the tourism in Taiwan has suffered decline, with the chill in cross-strait relations, since 2016. Thus, this study attempts to determine whether the numbers of Chinese tourists, international tourists, and female travelers to Taiwan have an impact on income generated by inbound tourism from 2008 to 2018 and the findings demonstrate that 1. Tourists from Asian countries contribute the largest share of travelers that Taiwan hosts by nearly 90 percent; After entry permit for Chinese citizens conducted in 2008, China accounts for the lion’s share of Taiwan’s inbound tourists, followed by Japan; 2. The number of Chinese tourists had continued to climb since July 2008 and peaked in 2014. However, this wave of Mainland tourists visiting Taiwan has begun to fade since the new president of Taiwan came into power and new entry requirements were introduced in May 2016; 3. Even though the number of Chinese tourists to Taiwan falls after May 2016, increases in tourism expenditure have been incurred. The Taiwanese tourism sector’s performance has exceeded all expectations. 4. The number of female travelers keeps growing every year and, for the months in which the number of female travelers surpasses the number of male travelers, these women boost tourism receipts in Taiwan.
