A Study of the Relationships among Students' Professional Competency, Professional Identity and Career Maturity in Department of Food Processing of Skill-based Senior High School

This study mainly discusses the relationships among Taiwanese skill-based senior high school students' professional competency, professional identity, and career maturity. Specifically speaking, the purposes of this study are: 1.To understand the current status of professional competency, professional identity, and career maturity.2.To analyze the differences in professional competency, professional identity and career maturity between different background changes.3.To explore the relevant situation of professional competency, professional identity and career maturity.4.To analyze the prediction of career maturity by professional competency and professional identity.5.To understand the prediction of professional identity by professional competency.In This study, a questionnaire survey was adopted to with 405 study the position of food processing department in skill-based senior high school students in the Central region and South region of Taiwan. In this study, three scales of "Professional Competency Scale ", "Professional Identity Sale" and " Career Maturity Scale". After the accomplishment of collecting data, the statistical software SPSS 20.0 was applied to exam item analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple stepwise regression analysis.The results of this study found that:1.There is a significant difference among professional competency, professional identity and career maturity with different background variables (gender, grade).2.Have significant correlations in professional competency, professional identification and career maturity.3.Have significant predictive power in professional competency and professional identity on career maturity.Based on the findings of this study, the researcher will propose some suggestions for teenagers, parents, school teachers, educational management unit, and future research.
