| Popis: | 107 Due to the popularity of mobile phones and the rapid development of technology, instant messaging groups have long penetr ated into our workplace. Thanks to instant messaging groups, one can engage in live conversations withall members of a given group, thus increase the opportunities for communication and enhance the friendship within the workplace; however, not engaging in a conversationor reading the messages without replying is likely to undermine the atmosphere in the workplace. Therefore, the present study explores the relationship between the IM groups and the workplace friendship, and further explores whether the participation of supervisors in such IM groups will have an impact on the workplace friendship. Questionnaires were distributed to people who previouslyworked or are at present engaged in the workplace and are active in one or more than one IM groups.Convenience sampling method was applied.A total of 237 valid questionnaires were collected, and the results of the study showed that: (1) the frequency of IM group communication has a significant positive impact on workplace friendship; (2) the participation of supervisors in the conversational activities of IM groups outside the public domain does not weaken the workplace friendship. |
