The increasing of greenhouse gas emissions and the increasing of the fuel prices are the main driving forces to more effectively utilize various sources of renewable energy. Around the world, direct solar radiation is considered to be one of the most prospective sources of energy. Scientists all over the world are searching for new and renewable energy sources, but they are intermittent and unstable. To overcome these difficulties, phase change material for thermal energy storage has caught more and more attention at present. However, most of the research was relate to paraffin, fatty acid and salt hydrates and so on as energy storage materials. Fewer people discuss with mixed fatty acids as a phase change material. Therefore, this experiment using mixed fatty acids as a raw material. Palm oil is composed of lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and others. These main fatty acids contain high latent heat, which is suit to be a phase change material. Phase change materials combined with microcapsule technology has been used for a long time. Microencapsulated phase change material (MPCM), which refers to the phase change material coating with a layer of film.In this research, we found the best parameter of manufacturing the microencapsulated phase change material. We regulate the pH value to 4.8, regulate the ratio of the gum to 7%, lower the temperature to 5℃, use 12ml Formaldehyde as the crosslinker, keep the rotation at 5000rpm.
