Purpose:This study examined the influences of “Sport for Good” on self-esteem and peer relationship in minor adolescents. Method: The participants were 60 adolescents recruited from the Chinese Christian Relief Association. The experimental group (17 boys, 13 girls; aged 13.8 years) participated in an 8-week basketball program, 3 hours for each week. The control group (17 boys, 13 girls; aged 13.8 years) did not participate any extra out-school sport activity. Both two groups were administered the questionnaires assessing self-esteem and peer relationship prior to and after the program, and only the experimental group completed the assessment of activity satisfaction after the program. Results: No differences in self-esteem and peer relationship were found between the two groups. For the experimental group, self-esteem and positive peer relationship could positively predict the activity satisfaction. Conclusion: For minor adolescents, those who have higher levels of self-esteem and positive peer relationship would be likely to experience enjoyment and intrinsic motivation while participating in sports activities.
