A Study on the Relationship Between Flipped Instruction and Innovative Teaching Effectiveness in Junior High Schools in Taipei City

This study aims to explore the relationship between the perceptions of flipped instruction and innovative teaching effectiveness of the junior high school teachers in Taipei City. The method of data collection is questionnaire survey. The samples consisted of 575 teachers selected from junior high schools in Taipei City, 575 questionnaires were released, 545 were retrieved. After discarding 6 invalid questionnaires, there were 539 valid questionnaires, reaching 93.7% of valid questionnaires. The researcher analyzed the survey data by various statistical methods, including one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Based on the research results, some conclusions are drawn: I.The level of teachers’ perception of flipped instruction and teaching effectiveness in Taipei City shows medium-high degree. II.Different background variables of individuals (genders, job positions, school sizes, participating in professional learning community and joining innovative teaching contests or not) contribute to significant differences on flipped instruction of the junior high school teachers in Taipei City in overall. III.Different background variables of individuals (academic levels, school sizes, participating in professional learning community and joining innovative teaching contests or not) contribute to significant differences on innovative teaching effectiveness of the junior high school teachers in Taipei City in overall. IV.There is a medium- high positive correlation between flipped Instruction and innovative teaching effectiveness of the junior high school teachers in Taipei City in overall. V.The flipped instruction of the junior high school teachers in Taipei City can be used efficiently to predict innovative teaching effectiveness from the whole and every factors. Based on the conclusions of the study, some suggestions are provided to the education authorities, junior high school principals, teachers and the extended research as well.
