Relationship and difference between RFD and sports performance in college track and field throwers

英文摘要 Introduction: The rate of force development(RFD) is an important factor of power output, and it may also important for track and field thrower. RFD can be separate into static RFD and dynamic RFD, and which of them has more effect on track and field throwing is still unknown. The aim of this study is to measure the relationship between static and dynamic RFD and throwing performance. We find 10 male college athlete and all of the subjects is top 20 in the national game in their age. for the experiment, first, subjects execute the countermovement jump on a force plate to calculate the peak power and jumping high. Second, we measured the maximum isometric midthigh-pull force and RFD by the force plate and Smith machine. Finally, all of the subject perform 3 attempt of track and field throwing. And surface electromyogram(EMG) will set up and gluteal muscle during midthigh-pull test and throwing test. T-test will use to measure the difference of static and dynamic RFD, and use Spearman correlation coefficient to understand the relationship between RFD and peak power, jumping high, maximum isometric midthigh-pull force, and the distance of track and field throw. Result: We found that the hammer throwers has battle dynamic MRFD than discus throwers, but no difference in isometric performance between two group or two leg. There is a significant relationship between throwing performance and the isometric RFD in 0-200ms of supporting leg, and no relationship is found in hammer throwers. EMG signal of medial quadriceps of hammer throwing releasing phase in 0-300ms of supporting leg has a significant relationship with throwing performance, and no relationship between EMG signal and discus throwing performance. Conclusion: There are no difference between two events and two legs. It may due to the similar training stimulate. The isometric RFD performance of supporting leg of discus throwers may help to increase throwing performance. And activation of supporting leg in hammer throwing releasing phase may cause a better distance in hammer throwing. Keyword: power, maximum isometric force
