Popis: | 106 This study focused on preschool typical development children and children with speech sound disorders and explored if there were any differences between intelligibility, severity, and speech error patterns in picture naming tests and spontaneous speech samples. Percentage of identifiable words (PIW) and percentage of consonant correct (PCC) were used as criteria for intelligibility and severity respectively. In addition, this study will also analyze the distribution and consistency of phonemic inventory and phonological process of the two groups of subjects in spontaneous connected speech and picture naming tests. The participants were divided into 2 groups of 37 typical-developing children and children with speech sound disorders, 74 participants in total. The PCC, PIW, phonological process, and phonemic inventories of the participants in picture naming and spontaneous speech were analyzed and given the following results: 1. The PIW in two test tasks from two groups showed different patterns. 2. The PCC in two test tasks from two groups showed similar patterns. 3. The phonemic invetories in two test tasks from two groups showed different patterns. 4. The amount and distribution of phonological process in two test tasks from two groups showed different patterns. Based on the results, when performing speech sound assessment, clinical speech therapists should take the performance of both single-word naming test and spontaneous continous speech into account. As a result, we can have more comprehensive picture of children’s error patterns of their speech sound production. The error patterns of speech sound production in speech sample analysis is highly correspond to which in spontaneous daily conversation. Additionally, the treatment plans based on the performance of speech sample analysis might have more generalization effect as well. |
