A collaborative operation is a series of tasks performed by two or more people together so as to accomplish a particular goal. Collaborative Operating System (CCOS) is a platform and an industry standard which supports collaborative operations on the cloud. CCOS enables the development and execution of collaborative applications that supports multiple users to perform collaborative operations. This thesis studies the performance of CCOS and the development of CCOS applications. We propose the methods of doing CCOS performance testing and also analyze the load of the CCOS server under various user operations. The results are used to assist CCOS developers to optimize/improve CCOS performance and stability. We also design three collaborative applications, namely Vote, Note, and Draw, which are useful to many collaborative operations. During the design and development, we investigate the problems that are common to the three applications. We make a few suggestions and propose the solutions that may be used to handle the problems so that developing collaborative applications in the future can be faster and more convenient.
