A Study on the Development of Lion Dance of Elementary School of New Taipei City

| Popis: | 106 Lion Dance originated from multiple traditional cultural activities, such as religion activities, festival activities, entertainment activities. In these days, Lion Dance had been incorporated into the folk sports teaching subjects of elementary school, it made a well-grounded developing basis of Lion Dance. The purposes of this study were to explore organizational development operating performances, courses arrangement, competitions, exhibitions, problems, popularizing strategies, and developing visions of Lion Dance of elementary school of New Taipei City. Document analysis, participant observation, interview, and field investigation method were the study methods. The study conclusions as follows: 1. Some of the elementary schools are popularizing folk sports; Lion Dance had become one of the features of those schools’ folk sports. Many exhibitions were held by New Taipei City Dragon-Lion Dance Sports Committee offering students to show their skill of Lion Dance. 2. Most of the courses of Lion Dance were designed by the contract coaches, because course materials of Lion Dance hadn’t been incorporated into the official course in the Elementary school of New Taipei City. 3. Lacking funds was the most common issue of schools which popularized the Lion Dance. 4. Professional training and performing skill of Lion Dance were different from other common sports; it contained inheritance of folk-custom skill and contribution of grounding cultural art. 5. The teaching method of Lion Dance was different from the regular method of physical education. Lion Dance contained inheritance of folk-custom skill, professional training, and performances, so it could inspire students’ learning motivation; enjoyed the fun of learning Lion Dance and made it as usually leisure actives. Based on the above reasons, the researcher suggested that the authority should cultivate more teachers and create digital teaching materials of Lion Dance energetically then popularized teaching of Lion Dance to every different stage of school, getting the effects of sustainable development eventually. |
