The Correlations between PhoPhiKat and Interpersonal Relationship: the Empathy as a Moderator

Popis: | 106 The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between PhoPhiKat and interpersonal relationship, and the situation about empathy moderate PhoPhiKat and interpersonal relationship. The research tools used in this study were the “PhoPhiKat-TC Scale,” the “scale of interpersonal relationships of university students,” and the “Interpersonal reactivity index, IRI.” The participants consisted of 473 adolescents from university in the northern Taiwan. 292 valid data were collected after filtering indicative questionnaire items. Analytical results found that Gelotophobia is a negative predictor of interpersonal relationships in social reception, sense of humor. However, the relationships with peers, intimate friendship, and the relationships with family do not significantly related. Gelotophilia is a positive predictor of interpersonal relationships in social reception, sense of humor, relationships with peers, intimate friendship. However, the relationships with family do not significantly related. Katagelasticism is a negative predictor of interpersonal relationships in social reception, sense of humor, relationships with peers, intimate friendship. However, the relationships with family do not significantly related. The results of the relationship between empathy as a moderator for PhoPhiKat style and interpersonal relationships showed that the interaction between the variables of empathy and Gelotophilia is marginally significant, and a positive predictor of interpersonal relationships. While other variables did not exhibit statistically significant predictive power. For interaction patterns, considering the participants with low-score of empathy, Gelotophilia is a positive predictor of interpersonal relationships. For the participants with high-score of empathy, there has no statistically significant predictive power. The results of this study are helpful for understanding the relationship between the PhoPhiKat style and interpersonal relationships for students from university, the moderator effect of empathy. In conclusion, this study provides reference of practical application and research in future. |
