Since the end of the World War II in the nineteenth century, TOYOTA motor corporation Japan, like a soaring eagle, has successfully occupied a leadership position in the automotive industry through its innovative production and management during the recession of the industry. The emergence and improvement of TOYOTA’s production methods are the core concept of their current “lean production.” Compared with traditional mass production of Make to Stock, modern corporations must face customization-oriented market needs, with small-volume and large-variety production. The traditional method has gradually been unable to meet market needs. Lean production brings a whole new way of thinking to the manufacturing industry. It aims to remove as many valueless procedures or actions in the production process as possible, and to reach continues improvement, zero defect. The hand tool industry is an important forex earning industry in our country. In recent years, due to factors such as increasing labor costs, inflated raw material prices and demand for small volume and a large variety, the overall production cost has increased. To improve the production system and product quality, this study bases its research on “lean production” and how the hand tool corporations apply the systematic operation procedure of “lean production” such as 5S, value stream mapping, pull production, and continuous improvement. The results of this research have proved that through the introduction of the concept of lean production, the value stream mapping will improve. The moving average method suitable for the case corporation will be used to calculate the yields of each term. All these successfully shorten the working hours of presenting the products and effectively increase the speed of delivery and KPIs.
