The Impact of Macroeconomic Factors on Initial Public Offerings in Mexico and Brazil

| Popis: | 管理學院MBA 106 This paper is aimed to investigate the relation between initial public offerings (IPOs) and selected macroeconomic variables in Mexico and Brazil during the period of 2008 to 2017. In Mexico, we find that the timing of IPOs is affected mainly by the central bank interest rates and the IPO activity of the previous month. The stock market performance, although statistically significant, does not affect the timing economically. The amount of proceeds raised in an IPO is affected by the Mexican and US stock market performance. In Brazil, we find evidence that the industrial production index is the most important factor in determining both, the number of IPOs and the amount of proceeds raised. |
