The purpose of this study was to explore whether the “meditation practice” has the effect to relieve special education teachers’ job stress and enhance their attention. The researcher used the “Simple Version of Job Stress Questionnaire” available from the Institute of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health, Ministry of Labor, to screen out five special teachers who had higher scores on job stress and would like to participate in the study as the research subjects. Following the script adapted for special education teachers, the researcher led the participants to carry out the meditation practices, and then used the multi-dimensional attention test to collect the changes in the teachers’ attention before and after the meditation practices. Further, through the teachers’ awareness records and sharing after the practices, the researcher was able to have a thorough understanding of these teachers’ inner feelings during the meditation and the changes in their life and work after eight practices. The eight-time meditation practice program was conducted in the teachers’ spare time and each time only lasted 15 minutes. The participants’ awareness records and sharing after the practices, as well as the researcher’s observation record were used for qualitative data analysis; also, the multi-dimensional attention test of quantitative research tools was used as the auxiliary information for further exploration. The research results are listed as follows: 1.Meditation practices could facilitate special education teachers’ self-awareness (physical and inner), thereby achieving the effect of job stress relief. 2. Special education teachers’ attention could be enhanced through meditation practices.
