Due to the fact that China’s territory has only one side facing toward the sea, it is extremely necessary to have full control over its land and to develop new fields. This study explores China’s “Belt and Road” policy from the perspective of national security, based on geopolitical, geo-economical and regional competition-cooperation relationship in the era of globalization. This study also tries to demonstrate that China tends to strengthen its national security through “the Belt and Road” policy, and to expand its territory to make China become the world’s major power. This study takes the perspective of national security as the research approach, conducting qualitative research on “the Belt and Road” policy. Also, using literature analysis and historical research methods as well, this research analyzes “the Belt and Road” policy from the perspective of national security based on the political, economic, scientific, educational, and ecological aspects. “The Belt and Road” policy has brought enormous economic dynamism and capital to attract neighboring countries and countries along the route to participate. Once “the Belt and Road” policy is implemented smoothly, it will not only balance the economic gap between the regions within China, but also raise the standard of living in China. It can also bring more exports for the red supply chain, and solve the problem of overproduction. In addition, it can be more diversified and safe in terms of energy acquisition. “The Belt and Road” policy can also strengthen national security and make China become the hegemon of the world in a peaceful way, and open up a whole new and winning situation. “The Belt and Road” policy is a broad policy, covering geo-economics and geopolitics. This policy has combined Halford John Mackinder’s Heartland Theory with Nicholas J. Spykman’s Rimland Theory, and can offer China an opportunity to transform from the traditional land power nation to a land-sea power nation. “The Belt and Road” policy can make China’s national security more stable, only that it is necessary to convert long-term risks into short-term risks during the period of implementation. And it requires more comprehensive planning and thoughtful considerations.
