Popis: | 106 The roots of Scutellaria baicalensis has been used to increased growth performance and disease resistance by enhanced non-specific immune responses in fish. Non-specific immunity is a fundamental defense mechanism in fish which is the earliest immune mechanism to defend the host from infection by other organisms in a non-specific response. Cytokines are regulators of host responses to infection, immune responses and inflammation. Cytokines which act as modulators of the immune responses are related to both innate and adaptive responses. Pro-inflammatory cytokines such as Interferon Gamma (IFN-γ), Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-α), Interleukin 6 (IL-6), and Interleukin 12 (IL-12) p40 were involved in the up-regulation of inflammatory reactions, that was produced predominantly by activated macrophages. Different concentrations of S. baicalensis root water extract were administered as supplemented fish feed for cobia was showed significantly up-regulated of pro-inflammatory cytokines expression in spleen and kidney at the first week. The highest expression was showed in 1% concentrations of S. baicalensis root water extract group treatment followed by 2% group treatment and showed to down-regulated at the second and third week. That was indicated that the gene expression of cobia IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-12 p40 were not dosage dependent. The up-regulated of those pro-inflammatory cytokines in the first week becomes the main reasons for disease resistance of cobia in the treatments group. This study demonstrated the effects of S. baicalensis root water extract diet in innate immune system of cobia. |
