Popis: | 106 The Girl Guide/Scout Movement has been running for hundreds of years, and their gender-based system has been frequently discussed. This study intends to explore the gender implications of the Girl Guide/Scout Movement, with Kaohsiung City as the main scope, conducting ethnographic field research. It responds to the research questions such as the context of the “girl” scouts being highlighted, the differences in the conceptual intent and organizational training of the Girl Guide/Scout Movement, and the gender politics as revealed by the design of the Girl Guides. The main findings of this study are as follows: 1.The situation of the “Girl” Scout is hesitant because of the public image and the operating policies of the Girl Guides/Scouts. Some girls have resisted the Girl Guide Movement or want to become a Scout. They have the contradictory feeling of outsider-within and unable to find their own place in the Girl Guide/Scout Movement. The Girl Guides are positioned as the counterparts and complements of the Scouts. Compared with the Scouts who advocate masculine, the Girl Scouts are relatively feminine, and the current society generally encourages masculine, and there are different expectations due to gender differences. 2.Whether doing gender or not, the interaction has gender implications. There is no obvious gender difference observed in the field. Even if there are differences, it is not attributed to gender but should be a manifestation of personal traits and abilities. However, sex is used as a classification basis for the Girl Guide/Scout, or a convenient classification of executors, which constantly reminds participants of this identity role and is more effective in mixed gender situations. Therefore, the Girl Guide Movement adheres to a single gender and feminist ideals, hoping that women can fully develop their potential in a space where they feel safe. 3.The routes of Girl Guides/Scouts are different, and the strategies and concepts of the two organizations cause controversy between equality and difference. Participants can feel organizational intent. They are not fully accepted and can display their agency. The executors who have the right to interpret and speak have the possibility of loosening the system and leading the participants to carry out their own self, which is the key to achieving equality and diversity. From the view of this study, we need to reconsider the characteristics of participants in the Girl Guide/Scout Movement, no longer use gender dualism to generalize. We should merge multicultural and critical education thinking into the training of the Girl Guide/Scout Movement. To See more significant individual differences in addition to gender differences, so that people with different traits can find their own needs and recognition. |
