The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between corporate social responsibility and CEO turnover. If the corporate governance is involved, whether it will weaken or strengthen the relationship between corporate social responsibility and CEO turnover. CEOs play an important role in the firm, they have to take full responsibility on all the investment decisions and business strategies. If they tend to make profits or make a mistake in an improper way, it may lead their position to be replaced. However, if it was under effective governance, whether the firm would not change CEOs on board if CSR is strong at the firm, or they would replace their CEOs. This paper use the sample of firms period from 2012 to 2016 took from the`Blue Book Corporate Social Responsibility’ published by Social Science Academic Press (China). The empirical results show a positive relationship between CSR and CEO turnover, which supports the statement. More significantly, we found that firms with better corporate governance would be more likely to replace their CEO on board if CSR is strong at the firm.
