Popis: | 106 An architect nowadays plays the role as a coordinator rather than as an order giver. Along with the technological development and advancement, an architect must consider more complicated aspects of issues. There is a growing trend of division of work between architects and outsourced vendors. Architects have to outsource the part of work beyond their competences to third-party professional teams. However, the partnerships between architects and their vendors are subject to the influences of external factors and internal factors such as the competences of the vendors. How to define and maintain their partnerships with outsourced vendors is an issue that architects cannot afford to neglect. This study started with a literature review on partnerships and strategic alliances to discuss the outsourcing relationship between architects and vendors. A questionnaire survey was conducted on architects currently in practice in Taiwan. Totally 322 valid samples were returned and then statistically analyzed to explore the influences of three variables: “trust in the vendor”, “the vendor’s capability of flexible adjustment”, and “the vendor’s willing of future cooperation”. According to the analysis results, there is a significantly positive correlation among the three variables. In addition, the variable of “trust” has a significant mediation effect between the two other variables. Those vendors who have “the ability to make prompt adjustments when required”, “legitimate business” and “sufficient professional knowledge” can win more trust from architects and higher willingness to cooperate from both parties, which will consequently facilitate the maintenance of long-term partnerships. It is suggested in this study that architecture firms adopt the strategies of forging long-term partnerships, strategic alliances or partnerships with their vendors so as to enhance their competitiveness in winning project bids, lower their design costs, and maintain their design quality. They are also suggested to provide project owners with more integrated products and services in order to enhance their service quality and win better recognition from project owners. |
