Popis: | 106 Shiding, in the southeast of Taipei Basin, stretching from Xueshan Range, was a mountain tribe along Jingmei River. This area was a hunting area for Pingpu and Taiya tribes and belonged to Ciyuanshan Bao in Qing Dynasty. The Han people had moved here and did land clearing since 1729. They took up farming and lived in houses surrounded by mountains and rivers. They built stone houses with stones in the mountains or water. Di erent lifestyles and legend happened in these homes. Owing to its convenient geographic location for water transportation, Shiding became the transportation hub between Tamsui and Kavalan for the main distribution center of tea trading and agricultural products. West Street flourished with tea industry, East Street developed with coal mining industry. The blocked waterway transport by siltation, land transport opening, the completion of railway transport and Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Freeway obstructed throughly the advantage of geographic location in Shiding. After the coal mines became history, its brilliant past and fascinated local tales can only be sought and remembered from the relics and the collective memories of local residents. Di cult to earn a living and nd a job are the main reasons that the new generation in Shiding is not willing to stay here, which causes a serious migration of people. Population aging is also one of the predicament s here. There are fewer records on Shiding in references and historical data. Through reference collection and eld research, this study aims to shape the local characteristics of Mountain Street by way of cultural festivals from natural, historical and sociological perspectives, and suggest the planning and prospects of clustered settlement. The researcher expects these recommendations to revive the tourism industry in Shiding and reopen another economic door for Shiding. Keywords: Shiding mountain Street,Cultural festival |
