Research on the Relationship among the Adversity Quotient, Social Support, Job Stress and Physical/Mental Health of Government Employees (Military officers, Civil servants and Teachers)

Popis: | 106 Government employees—specifically military officers, civil servants and teachers—are encountering with more job stress and dilemmas than ever before. The need for them to resolve job stress with a positive and optimistic attitude has become crucial. Maintaining physical and mental health is highly important for the effective implementation of the work entrusted by the government and for safeguarding the citizens. this research analyzes the interaction among adversity quotient, social support, job stress and Physical and Mental Health, also investigates the relationship among these dimensions to unravel the factors that affect the physical and mental health of military officers, civil servants, and teachers. I have adopted the convenience sampling method to obtain samples from both Web-based questionnaires and paper-based questionnaires. The questionnaires included four variables: adversity quotient, social support, job stress and physical/mental health. 654 copies were sent out, and 593 valid questionnaires were returned, excluding 6 invalid ones. The effective response rate is 91.6%. All the questionnaires of this research were filled in by military officers, civil servants and teachers working in Taipei City and New Taipei City. The data were analyzed by using SPSS for examining the hypotheses of this study in order to provide research conclusions and contributions. According to the findings, the adversity quotient of military officers, civil servants, and teachers had significant effect on social support; the adversity quotient of military officers, civil servants, and teachers had significant effect on job stress; the adversity quotient of military officers, civil servants, and teachers had significant effect on social support; the social support of military officers, civil servants, and teachers had significant effect on job stress; the adversity quotient of military officers, civil servants, and teachers had significant effect on the physical and mental health; the social support and job stress of military officers, civil servants, and teachers had no significant effect on the physical and mental health. The conclusions of this research provided better understanding and concrete suggestions on research of the relationship among adversity quotient, social support, job stress and physical and mental health of military officers, civil servants and teachers. |
