The Study of Undergraduates' Attitude, Empathy, Support, and Emotional Intelligence to Epilepsy Based on Microsystem Perspective of Ecological Systems Theory

Popis: | 105 The purpose of this study was to explore undergraduates’ attitude, empathy, supportive, and emotional intelligence to Epilepsy based on Microsystem perspective of Ecological System Theory. The research framework constructed dependent on theoretical base, and developed the instrument as well. The expert validity of instrument had supported after expert meeting. A pre-test had conducted for reliability and validity check of instrument. The convenience sampling had employed for data collection. Participants cames from undergraduates from grade two to grade four located on Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County. Total 306 questionnaires distributed to selected universities and 300 valid responses returned with 98% return rate. Data analysis applied independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA to check the group means of different demographic variables of participants. The findings summarized as following. 1. All variables did not reached the significant level on attitude dimension with no further comments. 2. The test result reached significant level on dimension of Supportive, emotional intelligence, and peer empathy. The mean score of experienced social service students were higher than no experience. The result shows that the “high expection to understand epilepsy” mean score higher than the groups of “low expection”, “normal”, and “not expection” to support epilepsy patients. 3. The mean score on supportive were high social skill students higher than groups of normore, poor, and need improvement. Meanwhile, The mean score on supportive were high expecting to understand epilepsy than low expecting, normal, and not expecting. 4. The mean score on peer empaphy were high expecting to understand epilepsy than low expecting, normal, and not expecting. Moreover, very high expecting to understand epilepsy than low expecting, normal, and not expecting. 5. Total scale mean score compared result shows that good social skill students higher than normal on emotional intelligence. The mean score of comparison were expecting to understand epilepsy higher than normal and low not expecting on supportive. In addition, the mean score on supportive were very high expecting to understand epilepsy groups higher than low, normal, and not expecting. |
