Discuss on the relation between noise improvement of polarizer back end and occupational diseases

TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) Industry in Taiwan is quite prosperous. AUO, InnoLux, CPT and HannStar are famous manufacturers here. It not merely provides thousands of job opportunities but raises huge demand for related material and components. Polarizer, for instance, is considered as a key component for TFT-LCD manufacture. In addition, it also plays an important role for screen display quality and performance. Due to huge demand and high value for this component, it attracts world-leading polarizer manufacturer such as LG Chemical, Nitto Chemical, Optimax and Sumika etc. to invest manufacture factory or branches for our TFT-LCD panel industry supply high quality and low cost products. This thesis is focus on the back-end processes of polarizer noise hazards. It not merely discusses the noise sources but propose a practical method to reduce noise exposure. In accordance with literature review result, and found that hearing loss prevalence is one of highest occupational diseases, furthermore, it is an irreversible phenomena. Thus we hope that to control this hazard via engineering control and administration way such as hearing protection program etc. to reduce the risk. This study selects engineering control measures such as substitution, lubrication and enclosing to control the noise. On top of that, this study induces literature review aim at noise exposure and epidemiology results. Then we conduct noise measurement for slitting and grinding area, besides, we use the concept of similarity exposure group (SEG) and analysis the result. The physical examination is also considered as comparative evidence for the improvements. Finally, we use McNemer test method to verify the effectiveness of improvement.
