Popis: | 105 Dietary restriction (DR) has been known to robustly extend lifespan in diverse organisms. Previously, we have confirmed that sams-1, S-adenosyl methionine synthetase-1, is required for DR longevity response in C. elegans. We have found that the subcellular distribution of SAMS-1 is tightly controlled by the levels of food consumption. Our studies also indicate that DR-induced lifespan extension is affected by the subcellular location of SAMS-1. Thus, our results suggest that the downstream effectors of SAMS-1 in various subcellular compartments might function differently in longevity regulation. |
