Purpose: investigated the effect and the continuation on acute resistance exercise of inhibitory control. Method: twenty middle-aged adults who are between age 45 to 60 were selected as participants in this research, including 7 males and 13 females. Repeated measure design was conducted in the experiment to understand the influence of mid-intensity and high-intensity exercise of inhibitory control middle-aged adults in order to analyze the hypotheses and actual results. Result: both mid-intensity and high-intensity of acute resistance exercise had positive influence on improving the inhibitory control in middle-aged adults, especially the mid-intensity exercise had better influence to middle-aged adults than high-intensity exercise. Moreover, mid-intensity acute resistance exercise had continuation on the effect of inhibitory control, but high-intensity acute resistance exercise. Conclusion: middle-aged group can use acute resistance exercise to improve their inhibitory control, and different exercise intensity leads to different results. Mid-intensity acute resistance exercise can maintain the improved inhibitory control longer. Therefore, professions who provide exercise training or exercise formula can help middle-aged adults advance their inhibitory control through acute resistance exercise and produce the results more beneficially.
