In 1986, the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion proposed to emphasize the importance of communities in order to promote health and highlighted the involvement of residents to create “healthy communities.” The “supportive environments” in the Charter meant to “offer people protection from threats to health, and enable people to expand their capabilities and self reliance in health.” Communities are where residents live and exercise in their daily life. Therefore, it is exceptionally significant to create supportive environments that consider the health of residents as the starting point. A good physical environment can increase the willingness and times residents do outdoor activities, and their health is promoted through physical activities. Great social environment can also improve the communication and interaction between residents and cohere the emotions and the sense of health in communities. Based on the theory of building healthy supportive environments, this study examined Minzu Li in Gushan Dist., Kaohsiung City. The current situations of its environment development, organization management, and health relation were investigated with literature review, field research, and interviews. Issues to improve and strategies to handle them were proposed to Minzu Li as future reference of specific strategies of constructing healthy supportive environments. Through the improvement and development of physical environments in the community, the organization management and the building of atmosphere in the social environment, and the integration and interlinking of surrounding health resources, the team and residents in Minzu Li participated together. They built a healthy supportive environment in cooperation in order to maintain and improve the health of residents and the community.
