This article constructs a linear market under spatial competition, in which the firm has a factor transportation cost in production. In the related literature of a linear market under spatial competition, the firm presents two kinds of results: full on the market center or the market. However, this article includes both a factor market and a factor transportation cost to examine both the simultaneous game and the sequential game, showing different results that appear more closely to the real world. In the simultaneous game, two firms conduct competition in a two-stage game. In the first stage, each firm decides its own location to maximize profit respectively at the same time. In the second stage, the two conduct price competition. In the sequential game, two firms conduct three stages of competition games. The first mover that enters into the market decides the location in the first stage, and then other firm chooses its location bases on the observation of first mover’s choice. Under the difference in factor transportation cost, we find that the two firms will have different choices compared with the result from the article. The results of this study also show that, under the simultaneous game, the firm will locate closer to the factor market as the factor transportation rate increases. Under the sequential game, the first mover will locate more to the market center, while the second mover will locate more to the left in order to reduce its factor transportation cost.
