Popis: | 106 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has gained more and more notice by government and industry in the past decade in Taiwan. The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation ("TWSE") and the GreTai Securities Market ("GTSM") announced "Corporate Social Responsibility Best Practice Principles for TWSE/GTSM Listed Companies" in year 2010, to encourage companies implement CSR accordingly. In 2018, CSR finally has been codified in the most updated “Corporate Law”. When discussing CSR, the employee should be one of the most significant stakeholders to a company. They are treated as the key role to a company who can create revenue and bring interest in. They are also people who bring from the society their culture, points of value, and perspectives to the team. Workplace diversity and inclusion has been fashioned in the western countries for a long time. It is considered one of the competition advantages to the company that helps provide better goods or services. With diverse employee composition, a company could have diverse perspectives and methodologies, and therefore better decisions could be made by the leadership. It is also considered a big plus to the company’s image. Almost all big companies have the section for its diversity and inclusion practice on their websites, as well as proudly list their achievements. Although workplace diversity and inclusion has not been paid much attention in Taiwan, this study was supported by sociology and humanities. First, this research discussed CSR in its theory, developments and practice in both Taiwan and the United States. Second, this study was trying to find the reason that workplace diversity & inclusion is emphasized by the western countries. To conclude, workplace diversity & inclusion should be aware of and promoted in our industry. In the meantime, this study might be wished to serve a purpose to awaken companies in our country, to realize the importance both of CSR and of workplace diversity & inclusion. |
