A Study on the Relationships between Social Capital and Well-being of Elementary School Teachers in New Taipei City

Popis: | 105 The study was aimed to address the relationships between social capital and well-being of the elementary school teachers in New Taipei City. Firstly, it attempts figure out the social capital and well-being of teachers. Secondly, the different teachers’personal backgrounds on the perception of social capital and well-being are compared. Furthermore, this study explores the relationships between teachers’ social capital and well-being. It conducted with the method of questionnaires survey. The population was teachers of the 105 academic year from elementary schools in New Taipei City. There are 608 valid samples were collected. “A Questionnaire of Teachers’ Social Capital and Well-being” was used to survey 63 school teachers. The data collected were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson’s Product-moment correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS for Windows. The findings of the study are summarized as below: 1.Teachers’ Social Capital are in the middle and upper level, especially the highest on “network” and the lowest on “trust”. 2.Teachers’ social capital had been affected significantly by the age, but there is no significant difference in other variances of teachers’personal backgrounds. 3.Teachers’ well-being are in the middle and upper level, especially the highest on “interpersonal relationships” and the lowest on “positive emotion”. 4.Teachers’ well-being had been affected significantly by the highest educational degree, but there is no significant difference in other variances of teachers’ personal backgrounds. 5.There were positive and moderate correlations between teachers’ social capital and well-being. 6.Teachers’ social capital could significantly predict teacher’s well-being. Among those social capital aspects, “network ”predicted teachers’ well-being most. Finally, based on these results, it provided some suggestions for teachers, schools, and researchers. |
