The Study of the Relationship among Parent Rearing Patterns, Time Perspective, and Adolescents' Self-Esteem

Popis: | 105 The purpose of this study was to explore the correlations of parent rearing patterns, time perspective and self-esteem of adolescents in different demographic variables. This research sample consisted of 1,036 high school students, and used convenient sampling technique to sample from fifteen high schools in Northern, Central, Southern Taiwan and surrounding islands. All participants completed the Parent Rearing Patterns Scale, Time Perspective Scale and Self-esteem Scale. And the collected data were mainly evaluated by descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The main findings of the study were as follows: 1.The time perspective and self-esteem of adolescents varied significantly in the gender and grade;The parent rearing patterns of adolescents varied significantly in the gender. 2.There were significantly positive relationship between parent rearing patterns and self-esteem of adolescents. 3.Present Hedonistic, Past Positive, Future Positive of adolescents had significant positive relationship on self-esteem;Present Fatalistic, Past Negative, Future Negative of adolescents had significant negative relationship on self-esteem. 4.The time perspective of Present Fatalistic, Past Negative, Future Negative, Past Positive, Future Positive could partially mediate “warm care”, “encourage independence” and self-esteem of adolescents. According to the findings of the study, suggestions were provided to high school teachers, counselors, parents, and the future researchers. |
