Play is always one of the favored behaviors in human daily life, this research considered that it could create a playful working environment for employees, which can stimulate the positive impacts for employees and bring more innovation behaviors. However, this design of play in work may generate different psychological states and thus bring different work outcomes. Therefore, based on the job characteristics model (JCM), this research regarded the play in work as one specific type of work designs, which could increase experienced fun and decrease the experienced burnout and then subsequently contribute to employees’ innovation behaviors. This research also examined individual's attitude towards fun to further understand the differences in individual reactions toward play in work. This research used the survey to exam the relationships between variables, and then applied the statistical analysis to test the research hypotheses. The results showed that the play in work could positively impact the innovation behaviors and experienced fun while negatively affect experienced burnout. In addition, the attitude toward fun moderated the relationship among the play in work, experienced burnout and innovation behaviors. Thus, this research suggested that organizations need to pay attention to the potential impact of play in work on employees' personal psychological status and work outcomes.
